Cas Bitton I’ve followed the development of StarForge for over a year now, it’s incredibly ambitious and takes many elements from games I already love to create something pretty fresh and unique.
It’s up on Steam as of a few hours ago, I’m slowly downloading it and I’ll be checking it out a bit more over the next few days.
It has been a long time coming. Our poor old iMac 2009 has been on the verge of death for a few months now. The HDD has unfortunately just had enough, corruption/boot errors etc. Horror show really. I originally thought “Oh no worries, I’ll just open up the case and drop in a new HDD, will be easy.”……yeah, not so much.
Check out the iFixit guide for replacing a HDD in this model, it’s fantastic but I really didn’t want to jump through any hoops with getting the machine back up and running. Removing the screen is incredibly off-putting and just unfriendly to those who like to upgrade and replace components. As I mentioned in the title there is no longer any warranty, Apple Care…it’s gone. We are on our own and repair costs quoted was insane, not to mention the price for a replacement HDD (no upgrade, simply the same size that came in this “model” at the time was offered when I enquired).
I wasn’t about to have any of that and I found a pretty cheap solution. It’s simple, we kill the Batman. Wait, I’ve got that all wrong.
OSX has a few amazing abilities that I imagine very few of us actually use. One very awesome feature is to Install the entire OS to a external HDD. So with that information in hand I grabbed a FireWire 800 enclosure and a 2TB HDD and got to work.
30 seconds later, drive installed and we got down to business! Plug it in, hit format. Open the Mountain Lion installer, select the new HDD as the destination. Go get a cold drink!

DriveDroid lets you host .img and .iso files that are stored on your phone to your PC. This allows you to boot your PC into any OS you have stored on your phone. Do note that root is required.
You can for instance boot live Linux distributions or create a Windows install disk and having that on the go without carrying usbsticks or cds. You only need your phone with a decent amount of storage.

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge has claimed the title of Australia’s first R18+ rating! Let’s take a look.
There isn’t a month that goes past without someone I know mentioning Lost or The Wire. They are series that I have intended on watching to completion, but never could at the time. Well I’m about to change that!
Extremely happy to have picked them up from Zavvi for an insanely cheap price, free postage is always a bonus!
Fantastic look at the Pokémon series over the years by Satoru Iwata and a glimpse of Pokémon X and Y for 3DS (Coming October 2013 Worldwide).
What can I say, I’m impressed. It really will be great year for the 3DS as the lineup is incredibly strong, I can not wait!
I’ve had a lot on lately, losing my voice on Monday certainly didn’t help. That needed to be put aside while I assembled some new bookshelves. Was a good chance to relax and catch up on a few films.
